ADRAMELCH
»Irae Melanox«
Talking about unique progressive metal throughout the history a few names pop into your mind. For sure one perfect example is the Italian band ADRAMELCH and their out-of-time-debut »Irae Melanox«.
Since its first beginnings the progressive music scene has developed immensely and time after time the outstanding ones of the ever-changing protagonists of this music manage to carve a milestone that has the strength to stand the test of time. In 1988 such a rare moment happened in Milan, Italy: Five young musicians were about to write music history - and for sure they were not even aware of this fact, but were simply happy to be able to record their first album. An album like a ray of light, with music like a breath of life.
I can still remember how deeply impressing my first contact with »Irae Melanox« was, how overwhelmed I was when I listened to this music. There was magic in the air. Anthem-like vocallines, pulsating rhythmworks; sharp-edged riffs, soft undertones - »Irae Melanox« for sure had it all, but there was more. That certain something that words can't describe, that certain something that makes an album stick with you forever, that certain something that reserved ADRAMELCH a place in the Olympus of progressive metal.
We all know that time is merciless. Things that once were important can start to fade, memories can turn to dust when the sands of time run down. But not for »Irae Melanox«: taking a look back twenty years later this album has lost nothing of it's fascination. Songs like ›Eyes Of Alabaster‹, ›Dream Of A Jester‹, ›Decay (Saver Comes)‹ or ›Was Called Empire‹ - the album in his entirety to be precise - feel even more precious to me than ever before.
For sure from a nowadays point of view the production of »Irae Melanox« is not perfect, but such details don't matter at all when the soul of the music is so pure, so immaculate like we experience when listening to »Irae Melanox«.
ADRAMELCH sound like no other band and no band ever sounded like ADRAMELCH. This band and their gift to us, »Irae Melanox«, is and will always be a one-of-a-kind gem for progressive music lovers. Sit back and enjoy this masterpiece with me! (Stefan Glas, Rock Hard Germany, Heavy, Underground Empire)
